What is Prarthane and the use of Mass prayer ?

Sanathana Dharma advocated mass prayer. It was prevalent and practiced by masses. But, gradually the kaleidoscopic change in the social fabric diminished the importance of mass prayer. Hindus became more and more individualistic and ritualistic in nature. Thus, literally obfuscating the concept and meaning of ‘Samooha Yachana’ or mass prayer.

Sri Swami stresses the importance of mass prayer, advocates the relevance of selfless prayer, and propagates the idea of ‘Vasudaiva Kutumbakam’, the concept of universal brotherhood and in effect creation of comity of amity.

Annadana

Anna Dana being undertaken with a touch of daintiness is in itself the manifestation of Annapurneshwari - the alimental goddess. It is a treat to watch the devotees chanting euphonically Annapurneshwari mantra, before partaking her prasada. The food is served without discrimination among the devotees, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, as all are equal and belong to the same suffering humanity. The satisfaction derived out of this in tune with the satiation one attains from Swami’s benediction will peremptorily tone him up to face the avalanche of antagonism.
